A staple of Ley Line’s live shows, “Agua do Mar” is a dynamic interpretation of the Brazilian folk song “Memorias do Mar” or “Memories of the Sea” made popular by Maria Bethânia. The song is anchored by Kate Robberson and Emilie Basez’s magnetic harmonies and the stirring interplay between bass and percussion played by twins Madeleine and Lydia Froncek. Emilie came across the song while living in Brazil in 2014. Her interpolation of the melody and lyrics was inspired by her roots in Texas folk music and the song evolved into a truly unique rendition.

“Their intention on connection manifests as much musically as aesthetically, harmonies and styles weaving in subtle patterns like a world tapestry of shared myths and sounds.” -Austin Chronicle
