Sonora Festival originated in Belo Horizante, Brazil in 2016 and has since spread to 17 countries around the world. The festival’s purpose is to give visibility, promote and legitimize the presence of the woman composer, empowering her artistically, professionally and economically. The first ever Sonora Festival in Austin will make us a part of the global community of female composers and musicians working to inspire female representation in the arts.
